Georgia Equality, the largest LGBTQ advocacy group in Georgia, has endorsed the creation of an Athens Civil Rights Committee. As the movement pushing for Athens-Clarke County to create an Athens Civil Rights Committee grows, more organizations have realized the need for such a Committee so that discrimination can be fought.
Georgia Equality has been fighting for the creation of Human Relations Commissions like the Athens Civil Rights Committee throughout the state. The mission of Georgia Equality is to “Advance Fairness, Safety and Opportunity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Allied Communities in Georgia”.
