Establish a statewide public jobs program focused on infrastructure, a sustainable energy grid, and care work. Infrastructure jobs would focus on the repair of roadways, an expanded alternative transportation grid, as well as the restoration and expansion of publicly maintained green space and waterways. Care work would include child care, elder care, and an expanded network of public clinics addressing people’s physical and mental healthcare needs. This program would be funded by increases in corporate taxes, estate taxes, and income tax for the wealthiest residents of Georgia. Jobs would pay a living wage and hiring would focus on historically marginalized communities.
