It’s time to demand that our legislators pass the Keep Families Together Act TODAY!
Please call your senators and your congressional representative and tell them to prohibit the removal of children from their parents at or near the port of entry and vote for the Keep Families Together Act. This bill would only allow children to be separated from a parent if they are being abused or trafficked or if a court decides it is in the best interest of the child
Call:
Sen. Johnny Isakson: (202) 224-3643
Sen. David Perdue: (202) 224-3521
District 10 Rep. Jody Hice: (202) 225-4101
District 9 Rep. Doug Collins: (202) 225-9893

In just the first two weeks of President Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy, 638 parents with 658 children who arrived at the U.S.–Mexico border have been prosecuted. Those numbers include underdocumented people and people seeking asylum. Nearly 2,000 children were taken from their parents at the border in the six weeks between April 19 and May 31, the Department of Homeland Security said. Two weeks into June, the total number of migrant families torn apart by the Trump administration is even higher.
The GOP has drafted a new immigration bill they claim will stop the administration from separating families, but their bill will make it easier to detain children for longer periods, deport them more quickly and make it harder for their families to claim asylum under the law. It also includes cuts to legal immigration and funding for a border wall. The U.S. is the only country in the world not to have ratified the UN convention on the rights of the child.
Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) has introduced S. 3036, the Keep Families Together Act, co-sponsored by 32 Democratic senators, and Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) has done the same in the House, with H.R. 6135. This legislation was developed in consultation with child welfare experts, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, to ensure the federal government is acting in the best interest of children. Separating children from their parents can cause long-term damage to their mental well-being. We must stop this horrendous separation from happening NOW!
Urge Congress to oppose the “Zero Tolerance” policy and the GOP’s newly drafted bill and to support the Keep Families Together Act!

Hello,
My name is [NAME], calling from [CITY]. I’m calling today in support of the Keep Families Together Act. Since the start of the ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, more than 2,000 children have been separated from their parents. Ripping families apart is immoral and un-American. There is no law requiring the separation of children from their families simply because their parents were seeking a better life in the U.S. We must keep the children’s best interest at heart and only separate them from their parents in extreme circumstances in which the child is judged to be in imminent danger. Please do all you can to see that these children are not separated from their parents. The time to act is now; the need is immediate.
Thank you for the chance to share my concerns.
Please call your senators and representatives TODAY.
TELL THEM: Keep families together!
Thanks for caring,
