Keep Calling: Stop ICE collaboration

Your calls can make a difference. Let’s tell our legislators to stop empowering ICE to terrorize our community.

The terrible SB 452 has passed the Georgia senate (where our local senators Bill Cowsert and Frank Ginn voted for it). Now it’s in the house, on the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee, which isn’t where it belongs.

We’ll have a better chance of defeating it if Speaker David Ralston moves it to the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee, where it belongs. That committee has jurisdiction over Georgia’s criminal code and procedure, drug enforcement, sentencing, parole and pardons, and immigration.

Want to learn more about SB 452 and what makes it a bad bill? You can read our last alert about it here.

Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) 404-656-5020

Personalized calls are more effective than multiple calls reading the same script, so express your personal feelings frankly! Here is an example script that you can build off of or use:

My name is [NAME], calling from [CITY]. I’m calling today because I believe the END Act (Senate Bill 452), should be moved to the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee, where it belongs. Letting the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee address this bill is a mistake. This bill will discourage already vulnerable people from seeking help when they truly need it, making communities less safe. Nothing about this bill will keep Georgia safer, so it does not belong under ‘public safety.’

Thank you for the chance to share my concerns.

Please call Speaker Ralston TODAY.

TELL THEM: This bill doesn’t address public safety!

Thanks for caring,
