Anti-Discrimination March Coverage and Next Steps


Yesterday’s Anti-Discrimination March, organized by Mokah-Jasmine and Knowa Johnson, was the perfect way to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  400 people attended and we made our voices heard loud and clear on a cold January day.

The organizers have issued a press release describing the event and the next steps.

The best part about all of this is that we’re just getting started — meet at the ACC library (2025 Baxter Street) at 3pm on Sunday, February 7th to continue our efforts to eliminate discrimination in Athens. You can also attend the next Mayor and Commission meeting to let them know you won’t tolerate discrimination in our community — that is at City Hall on Tuesday, February 2nd at 7pm. Everyone is allowed 3 minutes to speak about any topic on their minds at the end of the meeting!
