How do you want to help change the world?

12 things you can do to get involved with Athens for Everyone (number 12 will shock you)!

1. Show up!

Having a mass presence demonstrates solidarity, whether through filling the room at Mayor & Commission meetings or showing up in the hundreds to marches & rallies. Check out our event calendar and let’s hit the streets!

2. Create a connection between A4E and your community!

We’d love you to tell your church group, school, or book club about what Athens for Everyone does. But more importantly, we want to hear about the work you’re doing, and what issues are most important to your community. Email us! Solidarity will make us strong. Ask us for literature you can hand out. For groups of 10 people or more, we can come by for a in-person visit, or set up a meeting at our office.

3. Knock on Doors

Join our canvassing teams to unite our city and get out the vote. Organization Coordinator and veteran canvasser Adam Lassila will lead teams and show new canvassers the ropes. Check our calendar for upcoming canvassing days, or Email us to learn more.

4. Phonebank

Surge with us to make calls to Get Out The Vote for progressive candidates and referendums during elections, and help Operations Coordinator Chris Dowd do vital fundraising and outreach during downtime. Just bring a phone! RSVP to our phonebanking event on facebook, or check the calendar. Email us to learn more.

5. Speak at a Mayor and Commission Meeting

Filling City Hall with members and allies to speak during key Mayor and Commission meetings has contributed to our winning Sunday Bus Service and a Living Wage for all ACC Workers, and we continue to use this successful strategy to fight for progressive change at the local level. Speak truth to power, at the podium. Follow our facebook or check our calendar for alerts on a fill-the-room event. Email Member Coordinator Eleanor Davis to learn more.

Join an Initiative

Our initiative structure gets people together for a focused fight for justice. Initiatives meet once a month and are self-run. Check our calendar for meeting times; meetings are open to everyone.

6. Housing Justice

The Housing Justice initiative led A4E’s push against the Mitchell Street development, and guides A4E’s housing policy. Email Housing Justice to get involved.

7. Education Campaign

The Education Campaign is key in deciding A4E’s position on School Board elections. Email the Education Campaign to get involved.
